Review: I Hate Luv Stories

Verdict: Good Timepass/Light hearted
"K" Rating: 3/5
Watch: Theater/DVD

Chiffon-clad heroins atop snow capped mountains, heros sporting leather jackets. dancing in the rain with loads of drama -all so cliched Bollywoodish. And yet we buy it every single time! Why? This movie explores the answer. "I Hate love stories" (IHLS) is a maxim Jay Dhingra "J" (Imran Khan)  lives by. However he is an assistant  to the industries most romantic filmmaker Veer Kapoor (read Karan Johar  spoof) on a current love story project. J's cynicism clashes with set-designer Simren's world, (Sonam Kapoor) who is a sucker for love stories and even has boyfriend Raj to complete her perfect, dreamy world.

IHLS  has great comic timing and spoofs which send the audience in splits of laughter.Sonam Kapoor has a new look and  gets an A for effort however she still comes across Barbie dollish. Imran Khan is fantastic in the movie and essays an array of emotions effortlessly - not to mention his abs! Sameer Soni as Veer Kapoor and Sammir Dattani as Raj are note worthy in their performances.

The title track "I hate Luv Stories" is already a hit with the charts, but you may find yourselves humming to "Bin Tere" aswell. Manish Malhotra has done a great job fashioning for his nephew Punit Malhotra's film. The look is young, hep and so Abercombie & Fitch!! All in all IHLS is a "Good Luv Story",  barring a few hiccups where it drags from time to time but its fun to watch, to sit back relax and enjoy.

Inspired?

So I absolutely love the music of the movie "Radio" starring Himesh Rishammya. He has 2 voices that he can sing in now. Check out the music : http://www.mp3yug.com/Music/Radio/R.htm. The movie did not do well at the box office, but the music was a hit.

We have good original music however we also have an inspired video for it (so i found out). Some would recognize this song from Boyzone performed for the movie 'Notting Hill".Nonetheless love BOTH songs, love BOTH singers.

Review: My Name is KHAN

Verdict: Great!worth Time and Money
"K" Rating: 4/5
"SRK" Rating:
 5/5
Watch: Theater/DVD
This is called "Cinema! a strong storyline, fantastic performance and a social message for its viewers- My Name is KHAN(MNIK) has it all. This is not the C(K)andy floss cinema that Karan Johar is known for, he should be given qudos for making a stunning film which has a love story in its core and a delicate yet strong subject of religion as its backdrop. MNIK is not about terrorism nor about 9/11 rather the butterfly effect of these incidents. Its about a man's word to his wife, his love for her which sets him on a journey across America. He brings with him a message which starts a tidal wave of change in attitude towards Islam.

Barring some scenes which seem to be high on the drama quotient,MNIK is spectacular and very moving.Arm yourself with a box of tissue for this tear jerker! The screenplay is so well written that audience connects with Rizvan and gets intertwined in his and Mandira's life just few scenes into the movie.Kajol and Shahrukh together deliver the emotionally charged roles perfectly, infact it is the career best performance for Shahrukh Khan.Jimmy Shergill, Sonia Jihan, Arjun Mathur and Zarina Wahab have befitted thier roles beautifully. Not sure what Navneet Nishan is doing in the movie as her character looks out of place.

"Sajda", "Tere Naina" are already chart favorites, find yourself walking out of the theater humming "Noor-e-Khuda"! Despite its rough release in Mumbai due to the political row, this movie is bound to be a money churner for Fox & Karan Johar at the Box office worldwide.MNIK caters to the educated, multiplex and the NRI audeince, hence the movie is bound to do well in metros at home and overseas. Watch out for "My Name is KHAN" thats Khhaan from the epiglottis!
