Don2: In Berlin

As we know Farhan Akhtar's sequel to Don aka Don2 is currently being shot in Berlin, Germany. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Kunal Kapoor. Here is a look at the recent press meet for Don2 in Berlin.SRK has a huge fan following in Germany.

Review: Jhootha Hi Sahi

Verdict: OK, Timepass
"K" Rating: 2/5
Watch: DVD

If you are looking forward for a fun romantic comedy flick with John Abrahim from the director of Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na - then think again as this one is a dud. Well, it has John Abrahim as a saving grace. The actress Pakhi happens to be the directors wife, so if you think she looks a misfit with 2 left feet, well you know why. The main thing which this romantic movie lacks is the chemistry between its lead characters.

Its shot in London, with a storyline of Notting Hill-meets-Friends-meets-more Hollywood flicks.Jhootha Hi Sahi (JHS) tells the tale of how a Desi Suicide Helpline mistakenly prints a geeky John Abrahim (sid)'s number on its flyer's. Feeling for the cause, Sid decides to volunteer. Then one night Mishka calls (Pakhi),rest of the film is about how Sid dawns two avatars -friend she talks to over the phone and other who tries to woo her. Thrown in are a bunch of friends who seem to have no support system apart from each other- the token Pakistani, Urdu speaking pregnant friend with a Japanese boyfriend, with a couple of gay friends and a hot stewardess. The movie does have its moments of slapstick dialogues.

The film's release was delayed as the music by AR Rehman was not complete. For the audience's sake we wish it had been left incomplete as it is forgettable. "Mayya Yashoda" track exemplifies the term misfit.

Watch for timepass and John Abrahim.

Don2: 300-ft Jump

As production continues for Farhan Akhtar's Don2 in Berlin, Shahrukh Khan did a 300 ft base jump for the movie. He jumped off in harnesses from the Park-inn hotel for a stunt.“Just did an over 300 feet base jump for Don… because you all make me believe I can fly. Time to tell kids about the birds and the bees… ha ha,” Shah Rukh wrote on Twitter. He Tweeted “My jump was last shot of day. Want to thank my duplicate and action team, to do it before me for wide shots and make me feel confident about it,”.

Review:Knock Out

Verdict: Timepass
"K" Rating: 2.5/5
Watch: DVD

Knock Out is Bollywood's remake on the Hollywood flick Phone Booth.Where a sleazy unfaithful Investment Banker (Irfan Khan) is held hostage in a Phone Booth by a Sniper (Sanjay Dutt).

Knock Out ads a twist to Phone Booth, taking it a step further by marrying it to the plot of corrupt Indian  politicians stacking millions in Swiss Bank accounts. The movie does have its moments as a thriller and keeps the audience wondering. It had the potential with its vigilant justice angle of being  A Wednesday but it falls flat. At places the movie is so over dramatized that is becomes ludicrous and asinine. The scene with Apoorva Lakhia turning up in a high tech van playing an encounter specialist is simply appalling.

Irfan khan is commendable, this actor always delivers a fabulous performance. Kangana ads the oomph factor as the sexy TV reporter but has little to add performance wise. Sanjay Dutt is in his sterotypical role. Sushant Singh who plays the cop on duty is excellent in his role. Actess Rukhsaar is back as the Bankers wife. There is no song and dance sequence in the film per say, more of background score.

Watch it on DVD for pure timepass, its an amusing thriller.

HDIL Fashion Week: Being Human

India's most eligible bachelor Salmaan Khan's Being Human fashion show at the HDIL Fashion Week had the Bollywood Beauties flocking - both in attendance and as participants. The theme of the show was to showcase Bollywood fashion thru the decades, with clothes designed by none other then designer Manish Malhotra. Each of the Bollywood beauties Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Sushmita Sen, Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapur, Rani Mukherjee, Priety Zinta and Priyanka Chopra walked down the ramp to represent an era.

Review: Crook

Verdict: Passable.
"K" Rating: 1/5
Watch: strictly DVD (i.e if you must see it)

Crook comes with the tag line of "Its good to be bad", as far as the film itself is concerned - the tag line should have been "Its NOT good, its just BAD".  Crook is based on the racial tension between the Indian students and Aussies in Australia. The movie falls flat on its face due to a weak storyline and screenplay. It does not deal with the issue at hand whole heartedly and makes it a melodromatic background for a love story.

Rebellious Emraan plays an illegal immigrant to Australia, trying to escape son-of-gangster stigma in India. As he hangs around a bunch of taxi drivers trying to marrying an Australian stripper to get Residency, while falling in love in an Indian. Both the girls have monomaniac brothers who have racial prejudice.Add in couple of one liner dialogs, racial slurres and speeches on cultural tolerance- you get the story line of Crook. Emraan Hashmi is his usual good, debutant Pakhi has nothing to offer to the film. Arjan Bajwa delivers a good performance.

The Bhatts and Emraan Hasmi movies are usually synonymous with good melodious  music, however Crook is a disappointment even on the front. The music is hardly memorable.

Amitabh,SRK,Hrithik at KJo Show!

It was a Bollywood Houseful at the HDIL Fashion week recently in support for Karan Johar-Varun Behl'sFashion label. It was a delight to see Amitabh, Shahrukh and Hrithik walk the ramp and do a their infamous dance steps. Not sure how wearable the clothes actually are -You know that when even SRK eludes that he may not actually end up wearing them. Have a look

SRK: Bombay Stock Exchange

Shahrukh Khan who rang in the bell for the listing of Bollywood giant Eros Entertainment at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) recently. Sharukh's next sci-fi movie Ra.One is going to be distributed by Eros aswell.

Review: anjaana anjaani

Verdict: eh, okay
"K" Rating: 2/5
Watch: wait for DVD

The promos looked promising, stylish and oh so hip 'n young. Despite the hot 'n happening pair of Priyanka and Ranbir, Anjaana Anjaani does not set the screen ablaze.

The story of two unhappy people who meet on a Bridge while attemting suicide, seems to be inspired by French flick A Girl on the Bridge. The romance blossoms as they journey across America to fulfil their "wish list before I die" reminds one of The Bucket List. Even with that said, the movie tells the take of how the protagonists learn to take life seriously and to face problems head on. Music by Vishal-Shekar is good - Anjaana Anjaani title track and Lucky Ali's Hairat Hai are especially good and are enhanced with Ravi K. Chandran's exceptionally good Cinematography.

One can't help but notice that the main leads are supposed to be depressed, suicidal and jobless, yet they manage to look as though they have stepped off a fashion runway. They both seem to have cash for renting boat, go to pubs and have fuel money to drive across continental USA. Eventhough comical, the attempts of suicide by the characters through various means does not seem to send the right message to the young audience.

If you are a Priyanka and/or Ranbir fan do watch the film as they definitely look good! Ranbir essays emotions very well. This movie had the potential but unfortunately due to the screenplay, it comes across as synthetic and fizzes out.
